Position: Site Superintendent

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, assigns, recommends hiring, termination, discipline, and evaluates the work of all employees under his authority.
  • Supervises, manages and participates in all aspects of work performed at site.
  • Interface with Client, subcontractors and/or other site superintendents.
  • Reports to and complies with all directions and procedures given by Project Manager and with McC Inc. headquarters on all issues related to site.
  • Jobsite work activity planning for your crew, and organization of job trailer and site.
  • Responsible for all tools and equipment to include preventive maintenance and tracking of site equipment.
  • Ensure that all appropriate resources (materials, tools, equipment, etc.) are in place for project requirements, are in proper working order and are available for crew use.
  • Control productivity and labor costs/man hours to remain within estimate.
  • Inspects and monitors work to maintain quality control standards. Inspects completed work and assures that work is in accordance with McC Inc. standards.
  • Tracks additional change orders requested by client outside of initial ‘scope of work’.
  • Assures that proper safety standards and precautions are followed. Complies with all safety requirements to include use of personal protective equipment necessary for performing job duties. Continually monitors and enforces jobsite safety for all employees under his authority.
  • Prepares and maintains records for weekly and monthly reports to include daily safety inspection, tool box talks, progress reports, pour cards, etc. Prepares employee time records for payroll purposes.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service. Sets an example to crew as it relates to attitude, work ethic and attire. Interface with client as needed.
  • Plan, Plan, Plan...NOT...React, React, React. (Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.)

Qualifications:

  • Superintendent has worked on at least ten small projects on his own in a ‘foreman’ capacity and has a minimum of five years construction experience.
  • In depth understanding and ability to read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and visualize layouts.
  • Operate forklift, skid steer, rig equipment and boom-truck.
  • Completed CPR, First Aid and 10-hour OSHA training.
  • Has a valid Health Certificate and a Class A driver’s license.

Working Conditions and Abilities:

  • Superintendent responsible for the construction site work, plant maintenance work, or a combination of both may be exposed to a variety of working / weather conditions to include extreme hot and cold environments and exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • The strength and stamina required working with heavy equipment weighing in excess of 50 pounds, moving heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (greater than 20 feet) and the ability to climb multiple levels of stairs or ladders.
  • The ability to supervise in high elevations as well as confined spaces and possess good coordination and dexterity to travel across rough, rocky, or uneven surfaces at construction sites.
  • Has the support of two peers in McC Inc. that confirm he can handle the position.
  • Hours of work vary but typically are an 8 – 10 hour, 5 day work week. Overtime may be required.
  • Is able to speak and understand English and is able to understand and follow directions.
