Position: Craftsman - Finisher

Responsibilities:

  • Directs pouring, tamps, screeds, floats and prepares for finishing toweling and edging; participate in setting steel and wooden forms for concrete flat and slipform; apply grouts and water sealants as required. Inspects and supervises the mixing of concrete.
  • Work with superintendent, foreman, millwrights and laborers and sometimes supervise the work of others. Comply with all directions you are given and complete every task asked of you to the best of your ability.
  • Comply with all safety requirements to include use of personal protective equipment and proper tools necessary for performing job duties.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
  • This position may also require the performance of other essential or secondary functions depending upon work assignment at jobsite.

Qualifications:

  • Craftsman and Finisher must have knowledge of concrete tools, techniques, and practices; concrete and cement mixtures and their elementary properties. Have worked on at least two projects and can demonstrate proof of ‘hands-on’ work experience and skill level from previous employment or self employment.
  • Read simple plans, make measurements, and set up forms preparatory to pouring and finishing.
  • Knowledge of surveying and control; read design drawings and understand elevation and grade.
  • Operate trucks, forklift, skid steer, and equipment related to concrete repair in a skillful and safe manner.
  • Completed CPR, First Aid and 10-hour OSHA training.

Working Conditions and Abilities:

  • Craftsmen and Finisher may be exposed to a variety of working and weather conditions to include extreme hot and cold environments and exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • The strength and stamina required working with heavy equipment and/or materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds, moving heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (greater than 20 feet) and the ability to climb multiple levels of stairs or ladders.
  • The ability to work in high elevations as well as confined spaces and possess good coordination and dexterity to travel across rough, rocky, or uneven surfaces at construction sites. Is able to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
  • Hours of work vary but typically are an 8 – 10 hour, 5 day work week. Overtime may be required.
  • Is able to speak and understand English and is able to understand and follow directions.
